Teacher2020: on the way to the development of entrepreneurship in European education

In September activities of the Teacher 2020 project started at the Střední průmyslová škola Otrokovice. The first seminar for students took place on Friday, September 11th. "Furthermore, since entrepreneurship education is a transversal competence it should be available to all students and be taught as a theme rather than as a separate subject at all stages and levels of education." Commission, Entrepreneurship Education, 2011. The mission of Teacher 2020 is therefore to produce such resources and make them openly and attractively available to teacher educations and teacher students across Europe.

The class 3. B attended lectures on entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial thinking. The aim of the lectures was to present inspiring personalities and companies of the Zlín Region and to learn the requirements of employers in the region. During the second part of the seminar Viktor Mechl from the company Continental Barum shared his career development with students – he talked about the obstacles and pitfalls of his job and gave them some tips for a successful professional life.

The project will continue in the autumn, the students will visit the Museum Tomáš Baťa and they will prepare their presentations about topics related to entrepreneurship. The project will last until 2016, our school partners are another three European universities (University of Girona from Catalonia, University of Glasgow from Scotland, Unversitatea din Pitesti from Romania), then a high school from, elementary school from Spain and a service center for schools from Denmark.
