Czech Republic: StÅ™ední průmyslová Å¡kola Otrokovice

 

The secondary technical school Otrokovice belongs to the largest public schools in the Zlin Region and provides study programmes in the area of:

 

  • Chemistry (applied chemistry, science lyceum, plastics and rubber industry

  • Engineering (vehicles and systems, operating machinery, mechanic)

  • Services (management of hotel and tourist services, chef-catering waiter)

  • Electrical (electrical service, electrician)

  • Construction (plumber, painter, carpenter, joiner, bricklayer).

 

The full-time students attending the school are between 15 and 19 years. A modern school campus and qualified teaching staff guarantee a quality training of young people for their future profession. The students have a youth home, a kitchen, a dining room, a modern sports hall and an outdoor playground with an artificial turf to their disposal. Also Jezerka pension with congress hall is a part of school area. 

 

The secondary technical school Otrokovice has thousands of graduates successfully working in the chemical industry, construction, engineering, services, etc. The school is a Regional Centre of Education in the Zlín Region’s programme of environmental education in the area of ecology Enersol and also one of the five training centres in Zlín region in the program Pil Microsoft (Partners in Learning) - training of teachers in ICT. The students can benefit from the IT Academy programme which aims to help them obtain knowledge and experience in the field of ICT and guide them early in their career. In September 2014 the school opened a technology park Experimentarium. The interactive exhibits placed in newly reconstructed rooms are used by students and teachers of primary and secondary schools within the Zlín Region. The main objective of this educational centre is to raise awareness and motivate pupils to study science and technics.

 

International cooperation is an important part of the school's activities. The school is involved in international activities of the eTwinning programme. In the last school year 2013/2014, the school was very successful in getting grants from Erasmus+ programme, we started to implement four projects. The science students participated in vocational internships (in Italy and Greece) under the Leonardo da Vinci programme. The school collaborates with several European universities, and has gained interesting partners from foreign universities and research centres.
